Alexandra Trusova recognised by Guinness Book of World Records again

Alexandra Trusova has been included in the Guinness Book of World Records (GWR) in recognition of the quadruple flip she landed at the 2019 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final.

The Russian skater, who recently announced she was leaving coach Eteri Tutberide to train under Olympic champion Evgeni Plushenko, was recognised as the first female skater to land the jump in competition.

Trusova, who landed three of the five quad jumps in her free skate in Turin, has also been previously acknowledged by GWR for being the first female to land a quad Lutz, which she did in the Yerevan Junior Grand Prix in 2018, and for being the first female to land a quad toe-loop.

The 15-year-old also holds the ISU best score in a ladies' free skate (166.62), which GWR also acknowledges.

Trusova's debut senior season saw her star as one of Tutberidze's "3A" trident, alongside Anna Shcherbakova and Alena Kostornaia.

She won two Grands Prix, Skate Canada and the Rostelecom Cup, to book her place in the Grand Prix Final, where she finished third despite her exploits in landing the quad flip.

But the end of the season produced far more mixed results for the youngster, who finished behind her two training partners in the year's last two major championships.

At the Russian nationals, she committed errors on three of her quad jumps, although she salvaged a bronze medal; similar mistakes ensured another bronze-medal finish at the European Championships.

Earlier this month, Russian figure skating was surprised and torn apart when Tutberidze announced on Instagram that the skater had decided to leave the Sambo 70 club.

Although no reason was given at the time, Russian media later reported that Trusova felt she had not received enough attention compared to her training mates Shcherbakova and Kostornaia.

Olympic champion Plushenko will coach Trusova going forward.
