Great Britain's Adam Peaty will hope to show the swimming world that he is back to his best at the Doha 2024 World Aquatics Championships.

The two-time individual Olympic gold medallist took a break from the sport after defending his men's 100m breaststroke title at Tokyo 2020, and has suffered with mental health issues.

In his absence, People's Republic of China star Qin Haiyang has become the world's premier male breaststroke sprinter, taking the 50m, 100m, and 200m titles at the 2023 World Championships.

Peaty, who holds the 50m and 100m breaststroke world records, sat out that event, and has slowly been working his way back to peak condition on the World Cup series and at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, where he won the 50m event.

Qin will not be competing at the 2024 World Championships, as he prepares for the Olympic Games Paris 2024, but with the likes of two-time Olympic silver medallist Arno Kamminga signed up for Doha, Peaty will have to be at his very best to reclaim those 50m and 100m world titles.
