The Beijing Competition Zone will be home to three Olympic winter sports – curling, ice hockey and skating. Events will be spread across 12 venues, including eight that are part of the legacy of the Olympic Games Beijing 2008.

Ice hockey will be divided between the Wukesong Sports Centre, where the women’s competition will be held, and the National Indoor Stadium, which will host the men’s tournament. The Wukesong Sports Centre was home to basketball in 2008, while the National Indoor Stadium was used for gymnastics, trampoline and handball.

The Capital Indoor Stadium, which was centre stage for volleyball in 2008, will welcome new Olympic action when it opens its doors to the world’s best short track speed skating and figure skating athletes.

While the famed Water Cube venue saw the fastest athletes in water vie for Olympic glory, in 2022 action will take a turn for the slippery when the field of play is transformed from a pool into ice for curling.

Meanwhile, the pace will quicken in the new National Speed Skating Oval in the north of the Olympic Green when Olympic speed skaters slice their way into the history books.
