One year from now, we hope to come together in Tokyo, Japan, to celebrate the Games of the 32nd Olympiad.

Last week, the organisers of the Games released the full competition schedule for next year.

The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in 2021 are due to officially open on 23 July 2021 with the Opening Ceremony at Tokyo's new National Stadium. International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach has said the Games "can be a light at the end of this very dark tunnel that humankind is going through at the moment."

Instagram Live athlete chats

To mark the occasion, four Olympians – three gymnasts and a swimmer – joined official Olympics Instagram accounts Gorin in Japanese and Olympics in English for live chats to mark #1YearToGo.

Artistic gymnastics 2017 floor exercise world champion Murakami Mai and triple Olympic gold medallist Uchimura Kohei took part on the Japanese account at 6 pm and 7 pm Tokyo time (0900 and 1000 UTC) respectively on Thursday.

Meanwhile, four-time Olympic champ Simone Biles and five-time Olympic swimming champion Nathan Adrian joined the global @Olympics handle at 1800 and 1900 UTC respectively.
