Duane Mutu (CEO) is one of the top 20 most influential people in the video game industry, widely regarded as one of the leading esports experts in the Oceanic region. He is also on the founding board of the NZESF; which is historical for becoming the world’s first federation to have government recognition for esports thus making it an official sport in New Zealand. Duane also holds a role in the Global Esports Federation’s (GEF) Education, Culture, and Youth Commission as the only Oceania member of the committee.
Duane had previously worked on the publisher side of gaming for over 10 years with heavy-hitting brands like Ubisoft, EA, Warner Brothers, Disney, and THQ. Duane has a deep understanding of how the gaming ecosystem works and the commercial acumen which has driven much success in the space.
Duane now sits on the esports side of the gaming fence having founded the leading esports media company LetsPlay.Live (LPL), formerly invested by SkyCity Entertainment Group and an ASXlisted business. As of 2021, LPL is now a privately owned and independent business and a market leader in the esports sector. Duane was once an original influencer having his own television video game show.
