Unforgettable moments, shared together. A powerful way to unite communities – including vulnerable and marginalised people too.

Sport – particularly large-scale global events like the Olympic and Paralympic Games – can be a catalyst for incredible change, and a platform for protecting human rights, dignity and equality.

Brisbane 2032 will lead by example, embodying the Olympic spirit to promote fairness, inclusion and non-discrimination, creating a safe and inclusive platform for social change.

Brisbane 2032 will Respect and Deliver on Human Rights

We’re working hard to create an Olympic and Paralympic Games where everyone has the opportunity to contribute, feel valued and reach their full potential.

It’s our duty to ensure the Games leave a proud, positive and lasting legacy. This includes ensuring we create accessible supply chains that increase equity of participation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people with disability and culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

Brisbane 2032 Human Rights Statement

"At our core, Brisbane 2032 is inclusive and respectful of all. We are inspired to lead the way in valuing, respecting and advancing human rights through our actions and sphere of influence to make a genuine difference in people's lives."

To ensure that the Olympic and Paralympic Games Brisbane 2032 do not negatively impact the human rights of those whose lives can be directly or indirectly affected throughout the Games life cycle, Brisbane 2032 will:

  • Build a safe, inclusive platform for social change
  • Engage with vulnerable and marginalised groups, primarily within Australia, to ensure the Games are inclusive to everyone
  • Facilitate the awareness and participation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people living with disability, the LGBTIQ+ community, women and girls, older people, and culturally and linguistically diverse communities within Brisbane 2032 event planning and delivery.

Brisbane 2032 will partner with its Delivery Partners and respective subject matter experts to achieve its Impact goals.

Impact & Legacy

The Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games Organising Committee (Brisbane 2032) pays its respects to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ancestors of this land and their legacy. The foundation laid by these ancestors – Australia’s First Peoples – give strength, inspiration and courage to current and future generations, both Indigenous and non Indigenous, towards creating a better Australia.

We recognise it is our collective efforts and responsibility as individuals, communities and governments to ensure equality, recognition and advancement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples across all aspects of society and everyday life, including sport. We are committed to building a deeper connection with First Nations Peoples through meaningful listening and authentic engagement. We celebrate and honour all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Olympians and Paralympians past and present and we are committed to honouring their unique cultural and spiritual relationships to the land, waters and seas and the rich contribution they have made and continue to make to society and sport.
