Biography

At 2.07m (6'9") tall, Han Xu has already become a major star in the People's Republic of China.

Han was born on 1 October 1999, in Shijiazhuang, Hebei. Her parents, who both played basketball, introduced her to the game at a young age and quickly recognised her potential.

She made a name for herself in her home country and was the first graduate from the NBA Academy women's programme in China in 2018. A year later, the New York Liberty drafted her in the second round of the WNBA draft, making her the first Chinese player to be drafted to the WNBA in 22 years.

Han was gradually introduced to the league in her rookie season, averaging of 3.0 points in 7.9 minutes per game. She was then forced to take a hiatus in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Beyond her contributions to the New York Liberty, Han has been a crucial asset to the Chinese national team starting with stellar performances in the 2016 U17 Women's World Cup.
