Biography
William HENRY
Aged 41 at the time, William Henry was in goal for the Osborne Swimming Club of Manchester that won the gold medal at the 1900 Paris Olympics. A member of the Life Saving Society at the time, he was a co-opted member of the Osborne club specifically for the Olympics. He also swam for the Leander Club in London, and competed in the 200 metres obstacle race and the 4,000 metres freestyle. He won a bronze medal at the 1906 Games in Athens in the 4 x 250 metres freestyle relay. Henry was at one time the honorary secretary of the Royal Life Saving Society.
