Thomas Horton competed at two Olympics as a kayaker, competing in K-1 in 1948 and K-2 in 1952. Later in life he lived in various small towns in Southern California. Horton was in the US Marine Corps and after his death, was buried at Arlington National Cemetery. He is honored by the Thomas Horton Trophy which is given at the US National Championships to the leader in juvenile total points.
