Biography

Tom “Daddy” Haine played volleyball at Roosevelt High School and San Jose State. Haine later played for the Outrigger Canoe Club. He played for the USA at the 1963 Pan American Games, winning a silver medal, and the 1967 Pan Ams, winning gold, prior to captaining the 1968 Olympic team. Haines was a volleyball All-American 18 times. In 1982 he was named Gold Masters Player of the Year and in 1990 he was awarded the US Volleyball Association’s All-Time Great Player Award. He was a banker by profession.
