Biography

Making her début on the Korean national team in 2003, Lee Seong-Jin survived the highly competitive national trials for the Athens Olympics in 2004. She placed second in the ranking round, and as a second seed she shot her way into the final. There she encountered her team member, [Park Seong-Hyeon], who had set a new world record in the ranking round. Despite leading after the first six arrows, Lee eventually lost 110-108 to win the silver medal. The South Korean women, with Lee, then proceeded to dominate the team event. After a world record in the ranking round, they easily won their quarter-final and semi-final matches. The gold medal round against China was a lot closer, though, and only decided with the final arrow (241-240). Lee has since gone on to win several more international titles. In 2005, she claimed individual and team gold at the World Championships, while also winning at the Universiade. Two years later, she again won two titles, this time at the Asian Championships in Xi'an, China.
