Although born and raised in Hong Kong Lam Sheung-Yee played international football for Chinese Taipei at a time when Hongkongers were eligible to play for the team. He played international football for a decade and top division football in Hong Kong for nearly a quarter of a century winning every available domestic honour.
After his playing days ended he moved into a role as a television commentator on football and becoming such a popular personality that he gained the nickname "Ah Suk" ("Uncle" in Cantonese). A cameo role in a 1992 film propelled him into an acting career and he eventually appeared in nearly 40 films between 1992 and 2004.
