Biography

Sarah Gengler was a swimmer at Nicolet High School in Wisconsin, and later swam at Indiana University from 1981-83, co-captaining the swim team in 1982/83. She then transferred to the University of Wisconsin where she joined the rowing program. She was in the eight that won three consecutive medals at the NCAA Championships (1984-86), capped by a gold in 1986. Internationally Gengler competed at the 1988 and 1992 Olympics, in the four in 1988 and the eight in 1992. She rowed at five World Championships (1985-87, 1990-91), winning silver medals in the eight in 1987 and 1990.

After marriage Sarah became Sarah Gengler-Dahl, and became certified as a rolfer, a career she had for over 20 years, starting in 1994. She also coached masters’ rowing in the Seattle area.
