Biography

Hammer thrower Ralf Haber failed to win a medal at the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games, placing fourth in the final, but in 1987 won a bronze medal at the World Championships. He placed sixth at the 1986 European Championships, and also took part at the 1987 and 1989 European Cups, placing second and third, respectively. Haber was East German Champion in 1984 and 1987-89 and was runner-up in 1983, 1986, and 1990; and third in 1982 and 1985. In documents which became public after German reunification, he was listed among the athletes who were on various doping regimens.
