Roima Mujica was born in Venezuela, where she lived with her family and trained with her father, who was a poomsae coach.
Roima and her father travelled to Peru for the poomsae world championship in 2016 and made the difficult decision not to return to Venezuela, where the situation was insecure for her and her family.
Roima now lives in Lima, Peru, where she has taught taekwondo classes for children and young people, with the aim of using sport as a tool to include migrants in the host society. She current trains at the Peruvian Olympic Committee facilities.
