Richard Michael MCGEAGH

Rich McGeagh swam the heats of the 4x100 medley relay for the United States at the 1964 Olympics. A backstroker, in his heat he opened with an Olympic record of 1:01.1 for the 100 metre backstroke. McGeagh had set a national high school record of 51.8 for the 100 yard backstroke in 1961. He attended Southern Cal, where he made All-American both as a swimmer and a water polo player. McGeagh won the AAU outdoor title in the 100 metre backstroke in 1963-64. In 1964 he swam the opening leg for Verdugo Hills Swim Club as they won the AAU outdoor title in the medley relay. Indoors McGeagh won the AAU 100 yard backstroke title in 1966 and helped Southern Cal win the 1966 4x100 medley relay. He also won a gold medal at the 1963 Pan American Games in the medley relay.
