Biography

Cementing his place as one of the greats of French biathlon, Quentin Fillon Maillet has left an indelible mark on the sport both at home and on the global stage.

Fillon Maillet was born in Champagnole and grew up in Saint-Laurent-en-Grandvaux, a small village in the middle of the Jura mountains.

The landscape provided the springboard into Nordic skiing, with Fillon Maillet competing in cross-country skiing by the time he was 10 years old. Fillon Maillet graduated to biathlon four years later, before he tasted his first national success as junior French champion in 2008.

By 2015, Fillon Maillet was a regular on the World Cup circuit claiming his first podium with second place in the mass start in Ruhpolding.

The next year he won his first World Championship gold as part of the French mixed relay team in Oslo-Holmenkollen.

Quentin Fillon Maillet: Bouncing back from PyeongChang disappointment

While teammate Martin Fourcade swept all before him at PyeongChang 2018, Fillon Maillet underachieved on his Olympic debut with his best performance a 29th in the 15km mass start.
