Biography

Preben Isaksson broke through as a cyclist by winning the Danish pursuit championships at age 18 in 1961, and reaching the quarter-finals in the World Championships. A year later, he won his first international medal, placing second with the Danish pursuit team at he World Championships. After another team medal in 1963, Isaksson seemed set for his first individual medal at the 1964 World Championships, but he crashed during the qualification round, ruining his chances. At the Olympics, later that season, he won a bronze medal, a feat he replicated at the 1965 Worlds. Ending his career in 1967, Isaksson collected seven Danish pursuit titles, and won numerous competitions at the Ordrup velodrome.
