Pierre MUSY

Pierre Musy was the son of Jean-Marie Musy, a Swiss politician who served as President of the Swiss Confederation in 1925 and 1930. Pierre attended Collège Saint-Michel in his youth and then graduated from the University of Bern with a degree in law. In the 1930s he became proficient in two sports: equestrian and bobsledding. Although his prowess in the former would eventually send him to the 1948 Summer Olympics, where he was fourth in the team event with Alfred Blaser and Tony Bühler and 32nd individually, it was in the latter that he truly excelled. After coming in second at the 1935 World Championships, Musy, alongside Joseph Beerli, Charles Bouvier, and Noldi Gartmann, became a Winter Olympic champion in the four-man in 1936.

Outside of athletics, Musy worked in local banking in Geneva from 1931 through 1935, and then moved up to the federal level, where he remained through 1939. He served in military positions from 1938 through 1960 and, from 1951 through 1954, worked as a military attaché in the Middle East. He held the same position in several European countries until 1961 and became head of the Swiss Military Intelligence Service in 1963. He left this position in 1967 and, in retirement, had a stint as President of FC Fribourg.
