Biography

Patty van Wolvelaere-Johnson ran the hurdles almost exclusively. She competed for Southern Cal and the Angels Track Club. Van Wolvelaere-Johnson won multiple national titles. She was AIAW Champion in the 100 hurdles in 1977-78, AAU outdoor champion in the highs in 1967-68, and 1971-74, and won the AAU indoor 60 yard hurdles four times, 1971-74. She also won a gold medal in the high hurdles at the 1971 Pan American Games, and competed for the US at the 1977 Universiade and World Cup. Patty van Wolvelaere ran in the 1968 Olympics while still a student at Renton High School in Washington. She later became a firefighter.

Personal Bests: 100 – 11.78 (1978); 200 – 24.4 (1968); 100H – 13.14 (1978); 200H – 27.4 (1966).
