Freeman graduated from Cornell in 1953 and was a lawyer who had his own private practice. He lived in Stuart, Florida in 2005 when he was arrested on charges of sexual molestation charges involving three minor girls. He pleaded no contest to one of the charges, was given a 6½ year prison term, and was designated as a sexual predator in Florida.
