Biography

Michael Jacques was US Champion as a lightweight in 1983, 1985, and 1988, placing second in 1982 and 1986. Jacques competed at the 1983 and 1985 World Championships, in addition to his 1988 Olympic Games. He competed as a middleweight in 1986-87, but caught a virus and lost 17 pounds in three days, and returned to the lightweight class, where he had more success. Jacques graduated from Georgia Tech in 1983. He then worked as a civilian for the US Air Force as an electrical engineer, although he continued competing in masters weightlifting events.
