Biography

Sprinter Max Herrmann took part in the 1912 Stockholm Olympic Games in the 100, 200 and 400 m as well as in both relays. In the semifinal the 4x100 relay with Otto Röhr, Erwin Kern and Richard Rau set a world record of 42.3, but in the final the team was disqualified. He was German Champion in 1911 and 1913 in the 400, and was also runner-up seven times in the 100 and 200 from 1910-13. Herrmann was killed in action in 1915 during World War I while serving with the No. 7 Company 41st Infantry Regiment. He did not return from a snowshoe patrol and was said to have been killed while in Russian captivity.

Personal Bests: 100 – 10.8 (1910); 200 – 21.9 (1914); 400 – 49.9 (1913).
