Biography

Marjorie Haines graduated from Abington Friends High School in 1945 and graduated from the Moore College of Art. She was the first US woman to compete in Olympic equestrian, as a dressage entrant in 1952. Haines was primarily a show jumper, but learned dressage because women were not allowed to compete in jumping until 1956. She later became a horse trainer and taught riding to many people in the Philadelphia area. She was also interested in jewelry, music, and gardening.
