Biography

Madison Keys found her passion for tennis watching Venus Williams play at Wimbledon on TV. Growing up, she idolised the Williams sisters and turned professional on her 14th birthday, quickly making a mark as one of the youngest players to win a WTA Tour-level match.

In 2014, Keys won her first WTA Tour title on the grass of Eastbourne, defeating German star Angelique Kerber in the final in straight sets. At the start of 2015, she reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open while still a teenager. Along the way she upset reigning Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova in straight sets and edged past Venus Williams in the quarter-finals. A thigh injury hampered her against world number one Serena Williams in the last four as she went out in straight sets.
