Biography

Louis Raymond was the 1920 singles gold medalist at the Antwerpen Olympics. He also made the doubles quarters that year with Brian Norton. Raymond played singles again at the 1924 Paris Olympics, losing in round one. He was South African singles champion six times, winning in 1921-24 and 1930-31. In Grand Slams, Raymond made the semi-finals in 1924 at Wimbledon, and the quarter-finals at Roland Garros in 1927, where he lost to Bill Tilden. He played Wimbledon six times between 1919 and 1931. Raymond played 10 ties for South Africa in the Davis Cup, between 1919-31, winning 10 of 21 matches.
