Biography

Lev Mukhin took up boxing in 1951 and after two years of boxing won the Soviet junior heavyweight titles in 1953 and 1954. In 1955, Mukhin won silver at the Soviet Championships, which he repeated in 1956 and he again took bronze in 1960. At his only international tournament, at the 1956 Olympic Games, Mukhin defeated all his opponents by knock-out on his way to final, although he himself had been knocked down in the first rounds of his first round match against Bozhil Lozanov and semi-final match against Mino Bozzano. In the final, though, Mukhin was knocked down three times in the first round by Pete Rademacher. Mukhin also won the Russian SFSR heavyweight title in 1955.
