The winter of 1960 was very successful for Klara Guseva. On January 21 she won her only Soviet title, in the 1,000, and was runner-up at the Soviet All-Around Championships and in the 500 and 1,500, then ten days later won the 1,000 at the World Championships. Then on February 22, she won the Winter Olympic 1,000 gold medal. Her next international appearance was at the 1961 World Championships, where she won a bronze in the 1,000 and was fifth in the all-around. She made her last international appearance at the 1964 Olympics, where she finished fourth in the 3,000. Domestically, besides her medals at the 1960 Soviet Championships, Klara Nesterova-Guseva won three bronzes in the 1,000 – in 1957, 1963 and 1965.
