While at Marquette, Ken Wiesner won the NCAA high jump three times (once tied), the IC4A title in 1946, and he tied for the AAU indoor crown in 1945. After the 1946 season, Ken Wiesner retired, but after a five-year break he made a highly successful comeback and the 27-year-old navy dentist won a silver medal at the 1952 Olympics. Continuing to improve, in 1953 he three times broke the world indoor high jump record before retiring.
