Kaspar Hassel graduated from Trondhjem’s technical school in 1899 and completed his studies as an architect in Berlin in 1901. He subsequently worked as an assistant to Trondhjem’s district engineer. Hassel was employed by the Bergen community from 1904 onwards, where he acted as councilor for city planning and building from 1924-47. His public buildings, such as schools and hospitals, were regarded as examples for excellent art-deco design, and some of them are still in use.
