Biography

High jumper Karin Rüger came in ninth at the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games, competing for the mixed German team. She was seventh four years later, competing as Schulze for East Germany. Her husband Thomas Schulze was also a high jumper, and their son Andreas became a javelin thrower.

Rüger-Schulze finished second at the 1965 European Cup, and was fifth at the 1969 European Championships. She won indoor national titles in 1964 and 1971. Rüger-Schulze worked as a stenotypist.

Personal Best: HJ – 1.83 (1968).
