Biography

At the 1920 Olympics, Joe Pearman of the New York AC competed in both the 3,000 m and 10,000 m walks. At the shorter distance he was eliminated in the heats, but in the 10,000 m he placed second to the Italian Ugo Frigerio in the heats and these two then took the gold and silver medals in the final. Pearman also won two AAU outdoor titles and one indoor championship. Pearman later became editor of The Winged Foot, the journal of the New York AC.
