Biography

Jon Koncak was a 7-foot (2.14 m) center who played college basketball for Southern Methodist. He was drafted in the first round of the 1985 NBA draft by the Atlanta Hawks. Koncak played 10 years with the Hawks and then finished his NBA career with a single season with the Orlando Magic in 1995-96. He was mainly a reserve throughout his career. Koncak is actually best known for the contract he signed in 1989, which paid him the huge sum of $13 million, especially large for a back-up role player. During his NBA he averaged 4.5 points/game and 4.9 rebounds/game. Koncak was an Eagle Scout in his youth.
