John Symes opened the batting for the Devon & Somerset Wanderers in both innings in the 1900 Olympic match. He scored the modest total of 16 runs, however, more importantly, he had the foresight to bring home a scorecard of the match, completed in his own handwriting. This historical document is the only detailed record of this unique Olympic cricket match.
