Uganda's last boxing medal came courtesy of John Mugabi at Moscow 1980. Known in his professional career as 'The Beast', Mugabi was beaten by Cuba's Andres Aldama in the Olympic welterweight final. He challenged 'Marvelous' Marvin Hagler for the world middleweight title before becoming world champion at light-middleweight.
