John Henry POTTS
A former Durham miner, John Potts was the winner of the English cross-country title in 1931 and 1936, and ran the International Championships eight times (1930-32, 1935-39) and finished fourth three times (1932, 1937-38). On the track he won the AAA 6 miles in 1932 and the steeplechase in 1938 and was the Northern steeplechase champion in 1938-39. In the 1934 British Empire Games he finished fifth in the 6 miles.
Personal Bests: 6 miles – 29:47.0 (1936); 10000 – unknown; 10 miles – 54:48.4 (1931); 2 miles steeplechase – 10:32.6 (1939).
