Biography

Jim Pollak was a track cyclist who competed in team pursuit at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. He also rode that event at the 1991 Pan American Games, winning a silver medal. Pollak studied at Indiana University where he began cycling, and led his fraternity, Alpha Epsilon Pi, at the Little 500 bicycle race, as they finished second, first, and second his last three years. He was later voted into the Little 500 Hall of Fame.

Pollak considered going to law school after Indiana but deferred that to chase his Olympic dream. He later worked in the financial world, first with Prudential Securities and then Paine Webber, before moving into the oil and gas exploration field as President and CEO of Patriot Natural Resources. Pollak was inducted into the St. Louis Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in 2011.
