Biography

Jennifer Hooker was only 15-years-old when she swam at the 1976 Olympics, while representing the Louisville Tarpons of Louisville, Kentucky. She later attended Indiana University, graduating with a degree in business in 1984. While at Indiana, Hooker won seven Big 10 championships, and twice won national titles in the 500 yard and 1,650 yard freestyles.

After college, Hooker worked in the auto industry, first as a sales person for GM cars in Rantoul, Illinois and then as a finance and insurance manager in Americus, Georgia. In 1990, by then Jennifer Brinegar, she received a law degree from Vanderbilt University, and then practiced law in St. Louis and Rochester, Minnesota. In 1994 she returned to Bloomington, Indiana to join the Hoosier athletic department, and earned a masters degree in sports management from Indiana in 1996. Hooker-Brinegar started as a graduate assistant in the athletic department but in 1999 was named assistant athletic director, and directed the compliance office.
