Jeanne Golay was primarily a road cyclist who competed at the 1992 and 1996 Olympics. She raced the road race both years, and in 1996 also competed in the individual time trial and the track points race. Golay won the road race at the 1991 and 1995 Pan American Games, also winning gold in the team time trial in 1991. At the World Championships Golay won a bronze in the 1994 road race, and won four medals in team trials – gold in 1992, silver in 1993, and bronzes in 1988 and 1994. She was a nine-time US Champion.
Among her other wins were the 1993 Idaho Women’s Challenge, the 1994 Redlands Bicycle Classic and the Tour of Somerville, the 1995 Colorado Cycling Classic, and the 1996 Valley of the Sun Stage Race. In her honor, a training trail in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, the Red Mountain Trail, was renamed the Jeanne Golay Trail.
