Biography

Jean-Fernand Leischen was an épée fencer who competed at the 1948, 1952, and 1956 Olympics, in both individual and team events at each Games. With the Luxembourg team he finished fourth in team épée in 1952 and tied for fifth in 1948. At the World Championships Leischen helped Luxembourg to fifth-place finishes in 1951, and 1953-55.

Leischen later became active in fencing administration, with the Cercle d’Éscrime Differdingen, whom he served as secretary-general, treasurer, vice-president, and finally from 1961-64, as president. He also represented the Fédération Luxembourgeoise d'Éscrime on the Comité Olympique Luxembourgeois. His business career was in industry.
