Biography

Jimmy Henigan was a native Bostonian who competed over 20 times at the Boston Marathon. After finishing second in 1928, he finally won it in 1931 on his 13th attempt. He also finished second in 1932. The Boston Marathon honors the top New England finisher with the Jimmy Henigan Trophy. Henigan had a very long career, winning the AAU Cross-Country in 1917, and finishing third that year in the AAU 10K. He worked for many years as a foreman in a corrugated box company. Henigan died in a Veterans' Hospital in South Carolina.
