Biography

Jay Luck ran the low and intermediate hurdles for Yale and the New Haven TC. He was fourth in the 1962 NCAA 400 hurdles. At the AAUs, in the 220 yd hurdles he finished sixth in 1960 and fourth in 1961, and in the 400/440 hurdles he was fourth in 1961-62, second in 1964, and third in 1965. Luck also won the IC4A intermediate hurdles in 1961-62. His Olympic experience was hampered as he was recovering from a bout of mononucleosis (glandular fever).

After college Luck earned a PhD in electrical engineering and worked for many years with the technical staff for Verizon in the Boston area. In 1992 Luck was inducted as a charter member of the Watertown High School (Massachusetts) Raider Hall of Fame.

Personal Bests: 200 – 21.2 (1963); 440y – 46.7 (1965); 120yH – 14.3 (1962); 400H – 50.49 (1964).
