Imre Polyák won medals at four consecutive Olympic Games (1952-64), making him only the second wrestler, after Eino Leino (FIN), to achieve this. Polyák also won three Greco-Roman World Championships, in 1955, 1958, and 1962, and placed second at the Worlds in 1961 and 1963. In his native Hungary he won 12 individual national titles, and two team titles. Polyák was named Hungarian Sportsman of the Year in both 1958 and 1962.
