Biography

Long-distance freestyler Holger Kirschke was eliminated in the heats at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics in the 1,500 free. In 1965, he won West German titles in the 400 and 1,500 metre freestyles, as well as in the 400 IM. In 1966, he earned another title in the 400 free. Kirschke set three European and three World records over varying distances. He later became a swimming coach and a board member of his home club SC Wetzlar 74.
