Biography

Swedish painter and graphic artist Helge Zandén studied in Stockholm at the Royal Academy of Arts. He mainly created work paintings from the copper mine in Falun, with most of his pictures predominately in grey. During the 1910s he turned to etching and dry pointing, and then produced landscapes, urban scenes and portraits. In the 1920s Zandén travelled to France, to Montrichard and Mennetout, and Italy, where he painted various Tuscan landscapes. In the 1930s he moved to Iceland, again producing landscapes. Helge Zandén was also one of the founders of the New Art Association, which was started in 1926 in Falun.
