Biography

Harold Van Buskirk attended Penn State. He later settled in Texas and coached and taught fencing at Rice University in the 1940s-50s. Van Buskirk was US national champion in 1927 with the épée. His wife, Evelyn, was also a champion fencer – US foil champion in 1930. Rice University still holds an annual Van Buskirk Memorial Fencing Tournament in his honor.
