Biography

Harry Devine began fighting at 14 and five years later, really hit his stride. In 1928 he won both the AAU title and the Olympic trials before going to the Olympic Games. There he won two bouts before losing in the semi-finals. Devine, although fighting with a broken knuckle, earned his bronze medal by decisioning Lucien Biquet of Belgium for third place. After the Olympics, Devine fought professionally for seven years, without great distinction. Retiring in the 30s, he spent almost 50 years working in the fur business in his hometown of Worcester, Massachusetts.
