Biography

Hans VINJARENGEN

Hans Vinjarengen is one of the most successful athletes internationally in the history of Nordic combined. In addition to his two Olympic medals, he was 1929 and 1930 World Champion and bronze medalist in 1934 and 1938. He won at Holmenkollen in 1930 and 1933, placing second in 1932 and 1934 and third in 1931. He also won at Lahtispelen in 1933, and was national champion in 1929 and 1934. He had an extremely long career, starting with placing second in the Junior class in Nordic Combined at the 1924 Holmenkollen and ending with an 11th place at the same event in 1940, 16 years later. He was awarded the Holmenkollen medal in 1931. Vinjarengen worked as a lorry driver in Oslo and lived in the Norwegian capital most of his life, but he always represented his childhood club Nordre Land Idrettslag.
