Biography

After a points victory over Bert Lowe of New Zealand in their middleweight first round contest in 1932, Hans Bernlöhr was eliminated on points in the quarter-finals, after a blatant miscarriage of justice against Frenchman Roger Michelot. As the second-best European boxer in Los Angeles, he was also runner-up at the 1932 European Championships. According to reporters at the Olympics, he was the most stylish boxer of the Games and he was tipped as to be the middleweight champion until the contest with Michelot. In his career he won ten of 16 fights and lost five with one drawn. He was the first German boxer to become German Champion four times in a row (1931-34).
