Biography

A native of Winnipeg, Hamilton Jukes travelled to England in 1916 as a Lieutenant in the Canadian expeditionary force. He was invalided out of the army in 1917 but stayed in England and settled in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Jukes scored twice in Britain’s first match of the 1924 Olympics but these proved the only goals he scored in his only international tournament. He worked as an engineer in the oil industry and travelled extensively spending long periods in Peru and Colombia before returning home to Canada. He died in California at the age of 56.
